I present to you….the most AH-mazing wassail EVER!!  And I say that because I have always strongly disliked the stuff– that is, until now.  My brother brought this homemade version to us on Christmas and, to my great surprise, my senses were whirling with wonder.  Do you know what this means to me??  I’ve had a warm drink void in my life for the last several years, as hot cocoa is packed full of dairy (dairy free versions have been just “meh” to me at best), I don’t drink coffee, I don’t like tea (gag- will drink rarely and only herbal homemade varieties for medicinal purposes), and hot apple cider is, in my opinion, just ew.  (Note: I’m sure that my opinion of these will change over time too.)  Anyway, BIG HEARTY THANKS to the talented soul who came up with this recipe!  P.S. I sipped on this hot while I was sick too and it was wonderfully soothing.

Makes approx 18 Servings  (I’ll update this the next time I make it.)

Elements:

Two quarts of WATER

Two and a half cups of WHITE SUGAR  (I’m sure that you can experiment with reducing this amount. I know I will.)

Six CINNAMON STICKS

One teaspoon GROUND CLOVES

Three teaspoons CRYSTALLIZED GINGER

Twelve ounces FRESH SQUEEZED ORANGE JUICE

Six ounces FRESH LEMONADE

Two quarters FRESH APPLE CIDER

Application:

Boil the water and sugar for 10 minutes.  Turn off the heat and add cinnamon sticks, cloves, and ginger.  Let sit for one hour, then strain.

Stir in the remaining ingredients, turn the heat back on to warm it through, then serve it up and enjoy sipping the night away!
